Call for clear policy on busking under Covid lockdown

Jersey’s town centre manager has called on the government and health authorities to come up with a clear policy on busking in St Helier.

Under Covid lockdown rules, performers have been told they cannot get a licence for the foreseeable future.

But many of them are unhappy, claiming they do not pose a risk.

The Arts Centre is responsible for giving out licenses, but has been told by the parish and health authorities that must stop for the time being.

Town manager Vicky Trehorel said there needed to be a clear policy on the matter so work could begin on properly bringing St Helier back to life again.Quote Message: I’m really relying on government or public health to come up with a very clear set of guidelines that can be be issued so that we can allow buskers to go out. It would be brilliant, from my perspective, to have some atmosphere, and I’m sure people would appreciate it as well.” from Vicky Trehorel St Helier Town Centre Manager
